Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Spinoff!
I have to admit, I’m a little obsessed with Agents of SHIELD despite the fact that I also liked Agent Carter better of the two. Of course, it’s hard to compare the two since Agent Carter only ran for few episodes and Agents of SHIELD is well into their second season. I admit that is entirely possible that Agent Carter would have gone down hill if it had continued. I find it hard to believe though, as it was so well scripted and well acted that I can’t see it not getting better with time. Especially when you take into consideration the fact that is was about such a strong female character.
But, I digress. Agent Carter was wonderful, but Agents of SHIELD is also awesome in all it’s own ways (Agent Mae being one of the huge ones!) and today I found out from Geek Tyrant that they have announced that there will be a spinoff series. According to Entertainment Weekly, they have not announced who the spinoff will be about yet. While I’m sure that there is much speculation already circling (and a part of me is pretty sure the spinoff will feature around Ward due to his popularity), I find my fingers are crossed for a Deathlok spinoff.
Deathlok is an intriguing character with a story line that I’d love to see realized.
Not only that, but I have been a fan of J. August Richards since his first appearance as Charles Gunn on Angel. Gunn started off as a pretty basic character who could have just disappeared from the story without much notice if not for the amazing heart that Richards brought out in him. I feel like he’s done the same thing with Deathlok. While there is little doubt that Deathlok would be awesome regardless of who played him, Richards brought out such humanity in his character that the audience (or, at least, THIS audience member) was hooked from the moment he came on screen as Mike Peterson. Given his own series, I can only see Richards leading it to success…as well as many heart-wrenches and bad ass-ery!
That’s my 2 cents worth, anyway. I know others are hoping for a series on Inhumans or other Agent teams. And, hey, since Deathlok is an Agent, maybe we could hit two birds with one stone and feature him in a team. I think they could do wonderfully with it.
I’m also still hoping for a Season Two of Agent Carter, but right now I tend to think that a Deathlok series is more probable. A girl can dream for both though. What are your thoughts?
